State of Emergency in Armenia Remains in Effect
Today, after heated discussions in the National Assembly of Armenia regarding the draft law on the repeal of the state of emergency, the proposal was rejected with a vote of 36 in favor, 56 against, and 2 abstentions. A total of 67 votes was necessary for the decision to be accepted.
The author of the draft was Gevorg Gorgisyan, a member of the "Bright Armenia" faction. Yesterday, the parliamentary committee on defense and security did not provide a positive conclusion on the draft, as representatives from the ruling party expressed their opposition.
