Expert: I believe there will be a reshaping of the map again, this time to punish Azerbaijan
Military Expert Karen Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page: “After the defeat of the authorities post-1994, Azerbaijan began to strengthen itself. However, economic strengthening was not enough for Azerbaijan, and Heydar's son decided to cooperate with Turkey. He essentially gave Turkey Nakhichevan, on the condition that when he was ready for war against Armenia, Turkey would assist him.
In 2016, it provided partial assistance, but it was of no benefit as the Russian factor was strong and neutralized the war right in its infancy. However, by 2020, the situation had changed. There was a convergence of interests and clashes. Russia was forced to solidify its influence directly in the region. It began in Syunik, where the Russian flag began to wave, and then it moved to Artsakh, which remained under the control of Armenian forces.
I am confident that Turkey has accounts to settle with Aliyev. After all this, Turkey will question the idea of a single state, and once again, there will be a clash of Russian interests, as Azerbaijan still remains within the sphere of Russian influence. I believe there will again be a reshaping of the map, this time to punish Azerbaijan. On the one hand, it will not move towards the idea of a single state with Turkey, and on the other hand, it will move towards the idea of a single state with Turkey. In both cases, there will be military operations to punish Aliyev.”
