Today the French Senate Will Discuss the Need to Recognize Artsakh

Today, the French Senate will discuss a resolution on the necessity of recognizing the Republic of Artsakh. The discussions are set to begin at 19:30 Yerevan time. The commitment of senators to debate the resolution regarding Artsakh was announced by French political scientist Bruno Retayon. He stated on Twitter: "Only such independence can securely protect the rights and freedom of the residents of Artsakh over the long term, who have faced Turkey’s Islamic aggression."

Currently, the agreements on the complete cessation of military operations in Artsakh, which were reached through statements from the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, remain intact, noted a U.S. Department of Defense official. According to Jonathan Hoffman, the American side welcomes such developments in the situation.

The U.S. Agency for International Development is closely collaborating with local self-government bodies and regional administrations to assist families displaced by the war in Artsakh, providing food, hygiene supplies, medical assistance, and winter necessities.

Russian peacekeepers’ patrol groups are also ensuring the escort of vehicles carrying food and essential goods to remote settlements in Artsakh. Since November 14, Russian peacekeepers have facilitated the safe return of over 11,000 residents to their homes in Artsakh.

Globally, the number of coronavirus infections has surpassed 60 million. In just the last day, 540,000 people worldwide have contracted COVID-19. To date, nearly one and a half million people have died due to the virus worldwide. The United States leads the world in terms of infection rates, death rates, and the number of tests conducted, followed by India and Brazil.

The World Health Organization has also reported that the number of positive COVID-19 cases worldwide has increased by over 4 million, which is a record figure. A trend of decreasing infection cases has been observed in the European region and Southeast Asia, while North and South America have seen an increase in both infection and death rates over the past seven days.
