Tragic Car Accident in Yerevan: One Passenger Dies on the Spot

A tragic car accident occurred in Yerevan today. Around 4:30 AM, two vehicles collided at the intersection of David Bek and Freedom Fighters streets: one driven by an unidentified individual and another, a Mercedes, driven by 39-year-old Zaven S., a resident of Yerevan.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, a 68-year-old passenger, Sofia S., also a resident of Yerevan, died on the spot. Additionally, a 5-year-old child, identified as N. K., was taken to the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center with injuries.

The unidentified vehicle fled the scene. Police have found several broken parts belonging to a fleeing Range Rover at the accident site.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the deceased was the mother of the Mercedes driver and that the injured child was their offspring. After the collision, the driver of the Mercedes asked the fleeing driver to assist in transferring the children to Yerevan, but he chose to escape instead.
