Georgian Ruling Party Wins in All 17 Electoral Districts
The Central Election Commission of Georgia has tallied all the data from the polling stations. As a result, candidates from the ruling "Georgian Dream" party have won in all 17 single-mandate electoral districts in the second round of parliamentary elections.
The second round took place on November 21 in the country's 17 single-mandate districts. The elections were conducted under a new mixed system, whereby 120 of the 150 deputies are elected through proportional representation, while the remaining 30 are chosen via a majoritarian system.
According to the results of the first round (October 21), the ruling "Georgian Dream" party secured 48.22% of the votes through the proportional system and also won in 13 single-mandate districts, where its candidates received more than 50% of the votes.
Nine political parties and alliances also succeeded in the elections. Meanwhile, all opposition parties have decided not to recognize the results, calling them fraudulent, and have begun protests across the country. The opposition is refusing to accept any parliamentary mandates obtained from the proportional lists and is boycotting the second round of the elections.
