Putin Believes Humanitarian Efforts Will Help Achieve Political Resolution in Nagorno-Karabakh

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Nagorno-Karabakh region is entirely under the control of Russian peacekeepers. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

Shoigu also noted that agreements on the parameters of the joint Monitoring Center’s operational work with Turkey are being finalized.

For the first time, the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, Rustam Muradov, participated in the consultation.

During a meeting on peacekeeping operations in Nagorno-Karabakh, President Putin called on Russian peacekeepers to establish contact with Armenians and Azerbaijanis to avoid conflict in everyday life. "Armenians and Azerbaijanis are opposing sides, but the conflict is over," Putin stated.

The Russian President expressed confidence that humanitarian efforts would contribute to reaching a political resolution in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Putin announced that a Russian inter-agency delegation would travel to Yerevan and Baku at the level of several agency heads. The agenda includes the most urgent issues regarding the implementation of trilateral agreements concerning Nagorno-Karabakh.
