Azerbaijan Sends Request to Russia Regarding Journalist Semyon Pegov's Case
The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has sent an official request to the Prosecutor General's Office in Russia for legal assistance, seeking to investigate military journalist Semyon Pegov, the founder of the WarGonzo project. The journalist has explained this as part of the project participants' "disclosure work." Earlier, a criminal case had been initiated against Pegov in Baku, as reported by РИА Новости.
It is clarified that the investigative department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has opened a criminal case regarding the illegal crossing of the state border of the republic without documents, based on appeals by Pegov and Semyon Baghdasarov, the director of the Center for Middle East and Central Asian Studies and a Russian citizen, which the Prosecutor's Office claims incite ethnic hatred through threats of violence. An investigation is ongoing in this regard.
Pegov himself wrote on his Telegram channel that no threat from the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan could affect the principles of the WarGonzo project and their personal convictions.
