The Basis of Azerbaijani Atrocities is the Leadership's Anti-Armenian Policy: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has issued a statement regarding the displays of barbarism by the Azerbaijani armed forces.
"Following the ceasefire declaration on November 9, the Azerbaijani armed forces continue their distinctive 'war' against Armenian historical, cultural, and religious heritage, destroying and showing disrespect towards religious sites and monuments. The statue of Vazgen Sargsyan, a national hero of Armenia and Artsakh, located in the city of Shushi, has also become a target for Azerbaijani aggression.
It is also unequivocally condemnable that Azerbaijani soldiers have shown humiliating treatment towards an elderly citizen of Artsakh, motivated solely by his ethnic origin. This act, along with its glorification by Azerbaijani society, is a rejection of commonly accepted moral values.
The publication of videos glorifying war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces in the territories of Artsakh under Azerbaijani occupation is enriching the evidence regarding Azerbaijan's anti-Armenian and racist policies day by day.
It is important to emphasize that the respect shown by regular armed forces towards international humanitarian law and towards civilian populations distinguishes them from irregular terrorists, just as states are distinguished from terrorist organizations. These days, the foundation of the Azerbaijani atrocities is the anti-Armenian policy incited and encouraged by the leadership of Azerbaijan over decades, which has always, and especially today, been directed towards the implementation of ethnic cleansing and genocidal aspirations against the Armenian population of Artsakh," the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reads.
