Karekin II Expresses Gratitude to Putin for Preserving Armenian Heritage in Artsakh
Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians, has sent a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, thanking him for the efforts made to preserve the historical heritage of the Armenian people in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The message specifically states: “Karekin II has sent a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing gratitude for the measures taken to preserve the historical heritage of the Armenian people in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict zone.”
The document highly appreciates the efforts of the authorities of the Russian Federation and personally of the President of Russia aimed at stopping military operations, restoring the ceasefire regime, and establishing peace and stability in the region.
“We wish to express our deep gratitude to you personally for the measures taken to preserve the historical heritage of the Armenian people—ancient monasteries, churches, and cultural monuments—in the territories transferred to Azerbaijan,” the message reads.
The Patriarch specifically noted that the deployment of Russian peacekeepers has made it possible to secure the service at the well-known Armenian Dadivank.
“Our people will always remember Russia's significant role in stopping the bloodshed on the land of Artsakh and will pray for the enduring stability of the Armenian-Russian centuries-old friendship,” Karekin II emphasized.
In an interview with News.am, Father Vahram Melikyan, head of the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, confirmed that His Holiness has sent a letter of this content to the President of Russia.
