Help Artsakh Recover Without Further Bloodshed and Recognize Artsakh's Right to Self-Determination: U.S. Congressional Armenian Caucus
Members of the U.S. Congressional Armenian Caucus, including Frank Pallone, Gus Bilirakis, Jackie Speier, and Adam Schiff, have urged President Trump's administration to take an active role in achieving a long-term and balanced resolution to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as reported by the Armenian National Committee of America.
“We call for renewed engagement in the negotiations of the OSCE Minsk Group, to assist Artsakh in recovering without the threat of further bloodshed, and to recognize the right of Artsakh to self-determination. We urge the use of all diplomatic means to hold Turkey accountable for its aggression and human rights violations, including the imposition of sanctions, and to suspend assistance to Azerbaijan to prevent further escalation of the conflict,” the letter addressed to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo states.
Furthermore, the members called for ensuring the return of displaced Armenian civilians to their homes and guaranteeing substantial humanitarian aid for demining efforts, while strengthening U.S.-Armenia relations through support for Armenia's democracy and the U.S. Armenian community.
