France to Provide Humanitarian Assistance to Armenia, Says French Ambassador to Zarouhie Batoyan
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Zarouhie Batoyan, received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Armenia, Jonathan Lacôte, as reported by the ministry's press service.
Batoyan presented the work done throughout the military actions and outlined the social immediate needs created by the situation. "Next week, a one-time cash assistance program will begin, intended for our compatriots temporarily displaced from Artsakh to Armenia. The government is also discussing programs to respond to the humanitarian disaster in Artsakh, the restoration of civil infrastructure, the resumption of normal life in Artsakh, and ensuring safe and dignified return for the displaced," said Minister Batoyan.
Ambassador Lacôte expressed gratitude for the organization of the meeting during this difficult period. "I want to reiterate that France stands by Armenia and the Armenian people. I express our sympathy and solidarity with the Armenian people. It is clear that what is happening in Nagorno-Karabakh has a direct impact on the population of Armenia. This is quite heavy not only for the Armenian government, and particularly your ministry, but also for ordinary citizens who have hosted those who have left their homes as a result of military actions. In this context, France is prepared to provide humanitarian assistance to Armenia and the Armenian people," the ambassador said during the meeting.
The ambassador detailed that this assistance encompasses both short-term and long-term support programs, taking into account the lasting consequences of the war.
