At Least 21 Armenians Captured in Azerbaijan During the War

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross continue to visit Armenian citizens held in Azerbaijan. Zara Amatuni, the press secretary of the ICRC office in Armenia, informed Sputnik Armenia about this.

“In October and November, we continue to visit individuals held in Azerbaijan. Among them are both civilians and military personnel,” said Amatuni. She did not specify the number of individuals involved or whether there are those who were captured after the trilateral agreement and ceasefire. She only mentioned that the organization is in contact with the relatives of all the captives.

During the war, at least 21 Armenians were captured in Azerbaijan. One, 85-year-old Yevgenia Babayan from Hadrut, was returned to the Armenian side through ICRC mediation. On the same day, another resident of the same city, 84-year-old Misha Melkumyan, who was captured, died in Baku, and his body has been transported back to Armenia.
