VIDEO: Stolen Car from Artsakh Transported to Armenia, Uncovered by Vayk Police
In recent days, the police have deployed stationary checkpoints in several settlements and along highways of the republic as part of preventive measures. These operations aim to exclude instances of illegal transportation of weapons and ammunition from Artsakh to Armenia, as well as to prevent potential thefts from towns and villages.
On November 14, officers from the Vayk Police department moved a car with altered license plates, a Dodge Caravan, driven by a resident of Sasanik village in the Aragatsotn region, from a checkpoint located on the Yerevan-Meghri highway. It was later discovered that the vehicle was stolen.
The car was taken with the driver, about 7 km from Stepanakert towards Berdzor, and transported into Armenia by two other residents of Aragatsotn region—one from Sasanik and the other from Lerrnaro. Following explanatory work by law enforcement, the suspects reported to the Vayk Police department on November 16 and provided a confession.
Measures are being taken to ascertain the identity of the vehicle's owner. Investigative materials are being prepared on the matter.
