Video: Azerbaijani Soldiers Humiliate Elderly Armenian Man

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, has released a video showing Azerbaijani soldiers humiliating an elderly man of Armenian ethnicity, subjecting him to blatant inhuman treatment with exceptional cynicism.

"They do this solely because the man is ethnically Armenian. The hatred in Azerbaijan is so systematic and encouraged at the state level that these soldiers are not interested in the fact that the man is defenseless, elderly, and possesses human dignity. On the contrary, they confer this kind of treatment upon people, recording or photographing it, and then widely disseminating it on social networks to gain praise and apparent 'heroism' in their own society," said Tatoyan.

"One important fact: this act is not just a separate crime committed by a group of servicemen, but an inseparable component of the system of crimes—tortures, atrocities, and brutality—encouraged at a broad and state level during the war of September-November 2020. This is another piece of evidence confirming the systematic Azerbaijani policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Artsakh through terrorist methods. Such acts are not only categorically prohibited by all international requirements known to humanity, but they even defy human imagination."

"We are currently summarizing this evidence with the Defender of Human Rights in Artsakh for formal registration and submission to international bodies," the statement accompanying the video reads.
