The List of Missing Persons is Currently Trending Downwards: Davit Tonoyan

The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Davit Tonoyan, stated during a question-and-answer session in parliament that a commission has been established in the ministry to closely collaborate with representatives of the Red Cross and the Russian peacekeeping contingent in order to discover the missing persons.

“The list of missing persons is currently trending downwards because, as a result of clarifications, it becomes clear that quite a number of individuals listed as missing are actually alive; there have simply been registration mistakes,” Tonoyan noted. “We have initiated legislative changes, but apparently, there will also be certain adjustments purely according to the foundation's capabilities and the possibilities of using the state budget,” he added.

According to Tonoyan, everything has been done to ensure that families with losses receive support from both the state and the foundation. “It is a very unique situation. We are doing everything to implement changes concerning legal matters, but I believe that the government's decisions will help us rectify the issues,” Davit Tonoyan stated.
