Deputy Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Colonel Hovhannes Avagyan, Killed in Battles for Shushi

On November 7, Colonel Hovhannes Sosiki Avagyan, the Deputy Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, was killed in battles for Shushi. This was reported by his children.

Avagyan was posthumously awarded the 1st class Medal of Valor. The colonel had been appointed as Deputy Commander of the Defense Army in July 2020, concurrently with another Deputy Commander, Colonel Artur Sargsyan, who was also killed in combat.
