We Will Continue to Make Every Effort to Restore the Territorial Integrity of the Republic of Artsakh
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, Masis Mayilyan, addressed the employees of the Artsakh Republic's diplomatic service. He particularly noted:
“Our homeland is going through a severely challenging period, waging a heroic struggle not only for the right to live for the people of Artsakh but also, without exaggeration, for the dignified future of the entire Armenian people. This struggle is full of unprecedented heroism, self-sacrifice, and unreserved devotion to the homeland shown by the Artsakh Defense Army, volunteers, and local militia. I express my deep gratitude to all those who have defended our freedom with arms in hand, and I bow my head before the bright memory of the fallen Armenian fighters. The memory of those who sacrificed their lives in this unequal struggle will forever be cherished in our hearts.
At the same time, I cannot fail to mention the work of those who have fulfilled their professional duty in various fields. In particular, I would like to thank you, the employees of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the representatives of the Artsakh Republic's permanent missions abroad, as well as volunteers who have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to our efforts to inform the international community about our just struggle, counter anti-Armenian propaganda, and mobilize support for the people of Artsakh from the international community.
Our employees have fought not only on the diplomatic front but also on the battlefield. It is with great sorrow that I note the fall in the frontline of Ervand Hajikyan, head of the Diaspora department, who participated in the war as a volunteer from the very first days of the enemy’s aggression. During this difficult time for Artsakh, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Artsakh Republic in Armenia Arsen Parsamyan devoted himself entirely to serving the homeland, and his heart could not withstand the burden. Blessed be their memory.
During the days of military aggression against our people, the Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs prepared and disseminated dozens of statements and comments, detailing the position of the Artsakh Republic regarding the armed aggression and the ways to overcome the created situation. Most of the statements were distributed as official documents to international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, and others.
In collaboration with the Information Headquarters of Artsakh, our employees have carried out tremendous work to support foreign journalists who arrived in Artsakh to cover the ongoing events. Hundreds of interviews have been granted to foreign and Armenian media outlets. In addition to its primary functions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also supported other institutions, particularly assisting the National Assembly of the Republic in maintaining international connections, the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Artsakh Republic in disseminating reports in international organizations, the state commission on prisoners of war, hostages, and those missing, as well as other state institutions.
With the support of Armenian organizations worldwide and the individual representatives of the Diaspora, as well as our good and loyal foreign friends, the Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs has succeeded in achieving the adoption of resolutions by the legislative bodies and city councils of several dozen countries condemning military aggression against the people of Artsakh and supporting the independence of the Artsakh Republic and the inherent rights of its residents.
Once again, I want to sincerely express my gratitude to our professional team, which has literally fulfilled its civil and official duty in around-the-clock mode under the most difficult conditions of war, doing everything possible and impossible to make the voice of Artsakh heard in the international arena. Undoubtedly, invaluable assistance has been provided in our work by our partners in the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Diaspora, as well as foreign friends of Artsakh.
I am confident that in the new and challenging conditions, the diplomatic service of Artsakh will continue to make every necessary effort to protect and promote our people's vital interests in the international arena and to fight for the restoration of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Artsakh and its international recognition.”
