Over 4,000 Deaths Reported in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict, More Than 8,000 Injured - Putin

The number of casualties in the military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh has reached over 4,000, with more than 8,000 people injured. This was announced today by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting regarding humanitarian issues in the region, according to TASS.

“The number of casualties, including among the civilian population, has reached over 4,000 due to the military operations, and more than 8,000 have been injured. The number of refugees, by various estimates, is in the tens of thousands,” said Putin, noting that cultural sites and civil infrastructure have been destroyed.

He added that military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh have completely ceased.

Putin also expressed hope that the term “conflict” will no longer be used to describe the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. “I hope that we will no longer use the phrase 'Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.' I hope we will soon move on to discussions of other issues. One of them, of course, is very urgent,” Putin stated, referring to humanitarian problems.

The President announced that additional assistance for the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh will be necessary.
