Olympic silver medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling, Mihiran Harutyunyan, has shared new photos from the front in Artsakh on his Instagram page and made a statement declaring that the Armenian people have been deprived of the right to defend their homeland.

“Brothers, I must sadly note that not everything is within our powers. We were here, leaving behind our families, relatives, and loved ones. So many people have died. So many young individuals, who could have achieved so much in this life. For themselves, their families, and their people. Thousands of children have become disabled. And all of this was done for our homeland; no one will say that it was meaningless.

But unfortunately, not everything is decided by us. We found ourselves in some kind of performance, in some film directed by masked people. We did not retreat. Decisions had already been made on our behalf. I have no demands from Araik Harutyunyan, who was here and did what he could. I am not in favor of war, but we were deprived of the opportunity to defend our land until the end. Nothing could be worse.

My people are invincible and immortal. Everyone has seen what has happened. Who was there, who fled from the battlefield, tail between legs? I am not an actor and will not play these governmental games. Until we meet again. Stay strong, my great Armenian people. I have been with you, and I will be,” Harutyunyan wrote.

It is noteworthy that Mihiran Harutyunyan, who participated in the recent war in Artsakh, is the Olympic silver medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling from 2016.
