Responsible Authorities Must Explain the Status of 7 Regions to the Public, Says Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

There should be no illusions about the ownership of the 7 regions adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. “I want to emphasize once again. There should be no illusions that the 7 regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh should remain in the same status forever, as they were one, one and a half, or two months ago,” Lavrov stated.

According to him, “responsible authorities were obliged to explain to the population that at some stage they had to implement this settlement in accordance with the principles that have been on the table for many years, which were proposed by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, and which opened an ideal path for resolving that conflict without any bloodshed, without compromising the safety of anyone in the region, primarily the Armenians of Karabakh and other ethnic groups living in Karabakh.”
