NSS Arrests Tsarukyan, Vanetsyan, and Ara Sahakyan
The National Security Service (NSS) has arrested the former head of the NSS and leader of the 'Homeland' party, Arthur Vanetsyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, and former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly from the 'Homeland' party, Ara Sahakyan.
It is notable that Gagik Tsarukyan was detained prior to a rally demanding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation, while Vanetsyan and Sharmazanov were arrested after the rally.
Arthur Vanetsyan, the former director of the NSS and president of the 'Homeland' party, is suspected under Article 225.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (organizing and conducting a rally with a violation of established procedures) and Article 307.1 (violations of measures and temporary restrictions during a state of war).
