I Would Ask the People of Artsakh to Return to Their Homeland and Continue to Flourish It: Sasun Mikaelyan
During these forced days of the Azerbaijan-Turkey-terrorist war, more than 3,500 volunteers were fighting in shifts to protect the borders of Artsakh and Armenia. Unfortunately, our ranks have also thinned. Over the course of those 44 days, the volunteers sustained 69 deaths, with 2 missing, 1 captured, and 74 wounded. This information is contained in a statement released by Sasun Mikaelyan, the president of the Union of Volunteer Fighters.
Mikaelyan also addressed the actions following Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's announcement to cease hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, and appealed to the citizens who entered the National Assembly building: “The courage with which you were breaking into the parliamentary hall, if you stood next to a soldier with that same courage, the picture would have been completely different.”
The president of the Union emphasized that we are still at war, and everything still lies ahead. “And in conclusion, I would ask the people of Artsakh to return to their homeland and continue to flourish it,” Mikaelyan stated in his announcement.
