This Thesis by Mr. Tsarukyan is Fictional: Response from the Prime Minister's Spokesperson

The spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Armenia, Mane Gevorgyan, has reacted to the statements made by Gagik Tsarukyan, the president of the Prosperous Armenia Party.

“Gagik Tsarukyan stated during a broadcast on ‘Yerkir Media’ that this was a betrayal, alleging that Russia was prepared to deploy peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh on October 28, but Prime Minister Pashinyan opposed it and only agreed after ‘the surrender of Shushi.’ The fictional nature of Mr. Tsarukyan's thesis becomes evident with a very concrete fact: in an interview with Russian ‘Interfax’ on October 22, the Prime Minister stated that he supports the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. He reiterated this thesis during an interview with Indian WION television on October 25. Therefore, on October 28, there was no way he could have opposed the deployment of Russian peacekeepers.

By the way, after being released from custody, Gagik Tsarukyan announced that he was forming a volunteer group that he would personally lead. In the interview, Mr. Tsarukyan did not specify in which part of the front his group fought. The fact is that the history of the war does not record the existence of such a group. Perhaps the promised large volunteer group’s non-existence ultimately became the reason for the fall of Shushi,” stated Mane Gevorgyan.
