Individual World Cup Instead of Wrestling World Championship

The International Wrestling Federation (UWW) has decided to change the format of the World Championship to be held in Belgrade, opting for an Individual World Cup, as reported by the press service of the Armenian Wrestling Federation.

“The announcement about the change in the tournament format was made by UWW Vice President and President of the Wrestling Federation of Russia, Mikhail Mamiashvili. The executive committee meeting was held on November 10 and was chaired by UWW President Nenad Lalovic. The decision was made due to the limited number of participating countries, as several nations declined to participate in the championships.

The tournament will take place from December 12 to 20. Additionally, it is announced that the Armenian national teams in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling will participate in the aforementioned tournament,” stated the announcement released by the Armenian Wrestling Federation.
