UN Welcomes Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities by Leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan
The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the agreement reached on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. This statement was made during a press briefing by the official spokesperson of the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, as reported by TASS.
“The Secretary-General is pleased with the agreement. The UN is in contact with representatives from the Russian Federation to understand how we can support the agreement,” Dujarric stated.
He also added that the UN is grateful to Russia for its efforts towards the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia have reached an agreement concerning the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in the region.
