Over 200 Russian Peacekeepers Arrive in Armenia
More than 200 Russian peacekeepers have arrived in Armenia via IL-76 aircraft, as reported by TASS, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"Currently, 12 IL-76 military transport aviation aircraft have landed in the Republic of Armenia, carrying officers from the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces and servicemen from the 15th Peacekeeping Brigade. The military transport aircraft have transported more than 200 servicemen, armored vehicles, and communication equipment," the statement said.
The ministry reminded that a total of 1,960 servicemen, 90 armored vehicles, and 380 units of automotive and special equipment will be deployed in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia had agreed on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh.
In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he signed a declaration with the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan to cease hostilities in the Karabakh war from 01:00.
"The text of the declaration, which has already been published, is immensely painful for me personally and for our people. I made this decision based on a deep analysis of the military situation and the assessment of those who are most familiar with it. Also, based on the conviction that, given the current circumstances, this is the best possible solution. I will address all of this in detail in a message in the coming days," he said.
