EU to Impose Strict Sanctions on Turkey for Violating Conditions in Artsakh

Turkey must accept the signing of the statement on the cessation of war in Nagorno-Karabakh between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev; otherwise, the EU may impose additional sanctions on Turkey. This was announced by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian during a session of the lower house of the French Parliament.

“It is important that Turkey fully respects the agreed ceasefire; otherwise, sanctions may be imposed against it,” stated Jean-Yves Le Drian in response to a lawmaker's question regarding Turkey's influence on the events in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The French Foreign Minister clarified that EU countries will hold another summit in December, where Turkey's aggressive behavior will also be discussed. “Previously, the 27 EU countries already decided that if Turkey does not change its behavior, measures will be taken against it, including sanctions, and those options are already on the table,” he emphasized.
