No wounded serviceman or civilian has not received proper medical assistance, Health Minister

“The healthcare system, operating under extreme pressure and full mobilization, has no shortcomings regarding the citizens and servicemen affected by the military actions. There is not a single serviceman or civilian who has been injured or suffered any damage as a result of military operations and has not received proper medical assistance,” said the Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, during a statement in the National Assembly today, adding that there are additional reserves available for any further developments.

The situation is different for those infected with the coronavirus. The Minister emphasized that the system has limited resources. “Our current task is to hospitalize those in severe and extremely severe condition, provide medical assistance, and try to treat those with mild or slightly severe conditions at home.”

“As of 09:00 this morning, we have 861 citizens waiting for their turn to receive COVID-19 specified medical assistance. Some are at other medical centers, waiting for transfer. The majority are at home,” the Minister noted.

Among the mentioned patients, 113 have low blood oxygen levels below 80, which is an extremely severe situation. 271 are in serious condition.

“I cannot imagine doing anything other than what we are currently doing. At best, we can implement new measures to curb the numbers, which, as I mentioned, I cannot envision right now,” said the Minister, referring to the potential of lockdowns and restrictions.
