Ilham Aliyev Makes Desperate Attempts to Deny Reality: Anna Naghdalyan on Aliyev's Statements in BBC Interview
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia commented on the statements made by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during an interview with the BBC.
“In this interview, Ilham Aliyev confirms that he has no justification for the intentional targeting of the civilian population and civilian infrastructure of Stepanakert and other peaceful settlements in Artsakh, which has been documented with undeniable evidence by numerous reputable international media outlets and organizations specializing in human rights protection.
Understanding that he will eventually bear responsibility for the war crimes he committed, Ilham Aliyev is making desperate attempts to deny reality, labeling it as 'fake news.' This inhumane statement by Ilham Aliyev, made against the backdrop of the continued targeting of Artsakh's civilian infrastructure by armed forces acting under his orders, further emphasizes that the people of Artsakh can never be under the jurisdiction of Azerbaijan under any circumstance.”
