Azerbaijanis Took to the Streets with Flags in Some Central Areas of Moscow, Arrests Made: Political Analyst Mariam Hovsepyan

Following Aliyev's statement yesterday claiming that Shusha has been captured, Azerbaijanis living in Moscow exhibited similar euphoric sentiments as those seen in the streets of Baku. In an interview with ArmDaily.am, political analyst Mariam Hovsepyan noted that the example set by Baku had become contagious for Azerbaijanis residing in Russia.

They were playing their national anthems in Moscow markets and had hung flags, one of which bore the handwritten message, "Karabakh is Azerbaijan." This took place in the "Sadovod" and "Dubrovka" markets. At the same time, Azerbaijanis had taken to the streets in some central parts of Moscow with flags displayed on their cars, honking and signaling.

This emotional state is linked to the fact that November 9 marks the celebration of the Azerbaijani flag.

Hovsepyan stated that there were no clashes, as Armenians had shown vigilance. Furthermore, Russian police have been instructed to detain not only drivers displaying flags of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Armenia, but also all participants inside the vehicles. "Criminal charges will be brought against them under extremism laws. Moreover, some of those 'heroes' have already been detained by OMON," she added.

She reported that the streets are relatively calm today.
