Armenian Ministry of Defense Expresses Condolences for the Death of Russian Helicopter Pilots

The Armenian Ministry of Defense expresses its deepest condolences to the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding the death of the pilots of the downed helicopter of the 102nd Russian military base on the territory of Armenia today. The Ministry also extends its support to the families and relatives of the deceased.

The Russian pilots tragically lost their lives while fulfilling allied duties to ensure the security of the Republic of Armenia, and therefore, with the consent of the Russian Ministry of Defense, they will be posthumously nominated for state awards of the Republic of Armenia.

It should be noted that on November 9, at 18:39, the Ararat regional crisis management center received a call that a Russian helicopter had fallen and caught fire in the gorge along the section leading from the village of Yeraskh to the village of Paruyr Sevak. Operational groups from the regional rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and three firefighting units were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that the Russian Mi-24 helicopter had crashed in the median strip of the second kilometer of the Yeraskh-Paruyr Sevak road and had caught fire.
