Armenian Foreign Ministry Condemns Azerbaijan's Attack on Russian Helicopter on Sovereign Territory

The Armenian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the downing of a Russian Mi-24 helicopter by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

The statement specifically mentions, "On November 9, around 18:00, a Russian Mi-24 helicopter was shot down in the airspace of the Republic of Armenia by fire from a portable air defense system launched from the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to preliminary data, there are two fatalities and one wounded as a result of the attack. We extend our deepest condolences to the Russian Federation, the families of the deceased, and their comrades-in-arms. It is noteworthy that this tragic incident took place outside the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, in an area where no military clashes have occurred during this time. In this regard, the claims and attempts at justification by the Azerbaijani side are false and baseless. We strongly condemn this aggression against the Russian Armed Forces on the sovereign territory of Armenia by the Azerbaijani military. We are confident that the use of force against the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of the Republic of Armenia will receive an adequate response."

It is recalled that on November 9, at 18:39, the Ararat regional crisis management center received a report about a Russian helicopter that had fallen and caught fire in a gorge between the villages of Yeraskh and Paruyr Sevak. An operational group from the regional rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and three firefighting units were dispatched to the scene. It was established that the Russian Mi-24 helicopter had fallen in the field area to the right of the second kilometer of the Yeraskh-Paruyr Sevak road and had caught fire.
