Former Acting Head of NSS Mikayel Hambardzumyan Issues Statement
The former Acting Head of the National Security Service of Armenia, Mikayel Hambardzumyan, has issued a statement regarding his dismissal.
“Dear compatriots, on October 28 of this year, I made a decision and, on my own initiative, I applied to the Prime Minister of Armenia requesting to be relieved of my duties, a request that at that time did not progress. Today, the Prime Minister, thanking me for our joint work in this difficult situation, offered me to continue my service in the position of director’s assistant, which I did not agree to while insisting on my request for dismissal, which has been granted,” he stated.
“Considering the situation and possible manipulations, I will not provide details, which I may address after the conclusion of the military operations as necessary. At the same time, I express my gratitude to all employees of the National Security Services of Armenia and Artsakh for their selfless work, especially in these days,” the statement concluded.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had addressed President Armen Sarkissian with a proposal to dismiss acting director Mikayel Hambardzumyan. By the decree of the President, Armen Abazyan has been appointed as the new head of the NSS of Armenia.
