System Of A Down Releases Songs for Artsakh After 15-Year Hiatus
The rock band System Of A Down has reunited and released two new songs about their homeland after a 15-year hiatus, announced the band's lead singer, Serj Tankian. The songs discuss the war unleashed against Artsakh and Armenia by Azerbaijan and Turkey.
All proceeds from the songs "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz" will be directed to the Armenia Fund. According to Tankian, the music and lyrics already speak for themselves, and the world must also speak out and not remain silent.
“As System Of A Down, we have released new music for the first time in 15 years. The time to do this is now, as together, the four of us have something extremely important to say as a unified voice. These two songs, "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz," address the horrific and serious war being waged against our cultural homelands of Artsakh and Armenia,” said Serj Tankian.
The band's lead singer also noted that the corrupt regimes of Azerbaijan and Turkey not only seek to take over Artsakh and Armenia but, taking advantage of the world being preoccupied with COVID-19, elections, and civil unrest, are committing genocidal acts against humanity and nature.
“They are exploiting the fact that the world is incredibly focused on COVID, elections, and civil unrest to carry out their atrocities. We are here to defend our land, our culture, and our people. The time to turn a blind eye is over,” said Serj Tankian.
