President Holds Farewell Meeting with Italian Ambassador to Armenia

The President of the Republic, Armen Sarkissian, today met with the outgoing Ambassador of Italy to Armenia, Vincenzo Del Monaco, who is concluding his diplomatic mission in the country.

The President praised Ambassador Del Monaco's work and expressed gratitude for his personal contribution and efforts in the development and deepening of Armenian-Italian relations.

During the meeting, they also discussed the military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan and Turkey against Artsakh. Both parties emphasized that the conflict does not have a military solution and that resolution of the issue is only possible through negotiations.

There was also a reference to the current level of Armenian-Italian relations and their potential for development. It was noted that high-level reciprocal visits in recent years, agreements on cooperation in various fields including culture, science and technology, and others, as well as the historical and cultural ties between the two friendly peoples, provide a good basis for establishing closer relations in the future.

Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco thanked President Sarkissian for his significant contribution to bilateral relations. “I am very sorry to be leaving Armenia when there is so much suffering and loss of human life, when war is so close. I take with me your friendship, the wonderful people of Armenia, but at the same time, I am so sad to leave under such circumstances,” the ambassador said.
