Both leaders emphasized the importance of a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to the conflict. The conversation also touched upon the fight against terrorism.
"Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau expressed his solidarity with the people of France in connection with the recent terrorist acts and incidents of violence. The leaders of the two nations agreed to uphold freedom of expression and the protection of human rights, as well as to reaffirm their commitment to combating terrorism and violent extremism," the released statement said.
