Artsakh Ombudsman Presents the Consequences of the Humanitarian Catastrophe in Artsakh to Spanish MP
The Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, welcomed Spanish Congress member Jon Iñaritu and a group of foreign journalists who visited Artsakh on November 5. This was reported by the Artsakh Ombudsman's office.
The Defender presented the consequences of the humanitarian catastrophe created in Artsakh as a result of Azerbaijani aggression, as well as the evidence gathered during the Human Rights Defender's fact-finding mission regarding the atrocities and war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces.
He emphasized that the isolation of Artsakh by Azerbaijan over the years and the passive inaction of the international community in this regard have created an atmosphere of impunity for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan explicitly targets civilian settlements and the peaceful population, demonstrating inhumane treatment towards Armenian prisoners of war and corpses, confident that the international community will again not respond appropriately to these war crimes.
Therefore, it is essential for international organizations and the human rights community to be present in Artsakh as soon as possible and fully carry out their mission of protecting human rights.
Spanish MP Jon Iñaritu stated that he supports the struggle of the Artsakh people and is ready to raise the necessity of unconditional protection of the Artsakh people's rights on various political platforms in Spain and the EU.
