According to Syrian Mercenaries' Testimonies, Azerbaijan Distributed Pills Against Fear to Combatants
Two Syrian mercenaries arrested in Armenia have testified that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces distributed pills to combatants to combat fear during military operations in Artsakh. This was stated by Rafael Vardanyan, head of the Forensic Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, during a press conference on November 5.
"They did not admit to personally using them, but they have testified that individuals who felt fear were told by their leader and Azerbaijani military personnel that there are pills that combat fear. They saw Azerbaijani soldiers distributing these specific pills to the mercenaries. Both detained mercenaries insist that they received such pills," Vardanyan said.
Deputy Head of the Investigative Department of the NSS, Vazgen Avetisyan, noted that this circumstance has not been overlooked during the investigation. "In addition to financial support to encourage mercenaries to participate in military operations, they were provided with certain prohibited psychoactive substances. Hair, urine, and blood samples have been taken from the two mercenaries, and relevant examinations have been assigned to find answers to these issues," Avetisyan said.
