Turkey Threatens Peace and Stability in the Region, Says Greek Chief of General Staff

Turkey is challenging Greece's sovereign rights and threatening peace and stability in the wider region, as stated by the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, Konstantinos Floros, according to Ermenihaber.

“By signing the illegal agreement on delineating maritime borders with the Government of National Accord of Libya, Turkey is attempting to challenge and seize Greece's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, thereby advancing its revisionist policies in the eastern Mediterranean,” said the minister.

“This agreement contradicts international law, violates our sovereign rights, and endangers peace and stability in the region,” Floros declared, adding that based on this document, Turkey has also unilaterally claimed that Greek islands, such as Crete, are deprived of Greece's rights to an exclusive economic zone.

Floros emphasized that Greece's armed forces are a key pillar of stability in the eastern Mediterranean, consistently defending the European Union's sovereign rights and interests. “This needs to be stated loudly and clearly. We are defending not only Greek borders and interests but also European ones,” he noted.
