ISIS Claims Responsibility for Vienna Terror Attack
The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack that occurred in Vienna on the evening of November 2. According to France 24, the Islamic State stated, "The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the terrorist act carried out in Vienna."
The shooting took place near the Stadttemple, the main synagogue in the city, not far from Schwedenplatz square. Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz labeled the incident as a terrorist act. Four people have been reported dead.
According to available information, the attackers were a group of individuals who used firearms. Operations to capture the criminals are ongoing, involving a large number of city police and military personnel. Law enforcement authorities have reported that one of the assailants has been killed, while at least one other is still being sought.
