Intense Overnight Clashes in Shushi, Civilian Objects Targeted: Human Rights Defender of Artsakh

Shushi experienced intense clashes during the night, with civilian objects being actively targeted by the Azerbaijani armed forces, resulting in significant destruction and many injuries, reported the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, during today’s press briefing.

According to him, the city of Martuni was also under fire, leading to destruction of civilian facilities. “However, there are no human casualties or injuries reported there,” said the Human Rights Defender.

“Yesterday, the city of Stepanakert was targeted once again, resulting in two civilians being injured—one near a maternity hospital and the other in an area adjacent to the central market. This indicates that the Azerbaijani armed forces are deliberately targeting the civilian population and objects, contrary to the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and the agreement reached on October 31,” noted Beglaryan, pointing out that some of the attacks involved the use of prohibited cluster munitions.

During the course of the war, a total of 46 civilians have been killed, and 144 injured. More than 13,800 private properties and over 3,100 infrastructure, public, and industrial facilities have been damaged.
