Death Toll from Earthquake in Turkey Reaches 114
The death toll from the powerful earthquake in Turkey's Izmir province has risen to 114. According to TASS, this was reported by Turkey's Emergency Management Authority.
"A total of 114 people have died, and 1,035 have been injured due to the earthquake," the agency's statement said. Previously, the reported death toll was 110.
It is noteworthy that the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred in western Turkey, was located near the city of Seferihisar and registered a magnitude of 6.6. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, the depth of the epicenter was 16.5 km.
The earthquake, which damaged several buildings, was felt across western Turkey and in Istanbul. It was also felt in Athens. This is the most powerful earthquake to hit the Samos region in recent years.
