A Resident of Artsakh Reports Beheading of Neighbor and Civilian Named Mayor

It is noteworthy that in Azerbaijan, the mistreatment of corpses is even encouraged and considered acceptable by the broader society of that country. This was stated by the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, during a press conference.

“In this context, I would like to address an incident that occurred in recent days: One of our villagers from the community of Togh, who managed to escape, testified that he witnessed the beheading of one of his neighbors, as well as the beheading of a civilian known as Mayor. The surname is being clarified, and they also killed another elderly person aged 82,” he said.

Beglaryan noted that these incidents are not included in the statistics. “We have serious doubts that Azerbaijani forces have committed numerous crimes against any civilian individuals in all the localities they entered and discovered,” he added. “It is within the responsibility of the international community to do their utmost to ensure that Armenian individuals, whether civilians or soldiers, who are in Azerbaijani custody are protected, as those who have been rescued from captivity recount the torture they have endured, and how other captives are being tortured,” he said, citing the example of Misha Melkumyan, who died in captivity.
