12 Prisoners and 9 Convicts Released After Expressing Desire to Join the Front
As a result of reviewing applications from inmates wishing to join the front, the pretrial restrictions of 12 detainees have been modified, while another 9 convicts have been conditionally released from further serving their sentences.
This was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia in response to a query from Armenpress.
During the state of emergency declared by the Armenian government on September 27, 2020, the Office of the Prosecutor General received a number of applications from convicts and detainees in the justice ministry's penitentiary institutions regarding their desire to go to the front. As a result of examining these requests, the measures of restraint for 12 detainees have been changed, and 9 convicts have been conditionally released from further serving their sentences,” emphasized the Public Relations Department.
They also highlighted that each application from convicts and detainees was approached with a strict individual consideration.
