VIDEO: The Terrorist Neutralized in Vienna Was an Supporter of the Islamic State

Austria's Interior Minister Karl Nehammer has announced that the shooter neutralized in the capital Vienna was a supporter of the Islamic State terrorist group. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

"The criminal was wearing a fake explosive device belt and was armed," the minister added.

As a result of the terrorist act in Vienna, at least 15 people have been injured, and three others have died.

The gunfire began near the main synagogue in the city, not far from Schwedenplatz. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz confirmed that the police are treating the incident as a terrorist attack. Initially, it was thought that the synagogue was the target of the attackers, but these reports have yet to be confirmed.

According to reports, there were multiple attackers, one of whom has been neutralized. The terrorists used long-barreled weapons. Operations to locate the criminals are ongoing, involving a large part of the city's police and military personnel.

The gunfire occurred in six locations across Vienna. Austria's Ministry of Interior has also reported that the area designated for finding the terrorists has been expanded, as they do not rule out the possibility that they could have left Vienna.
