Armenian Women from Artsakh Hold Peaceful Protest in Front of Russian Embassy in Armenia

Armenian women from Artsakh, currently residing in Yerevan, held a protest with their children in front of the Russian Embassy in Armenia. According to reports from Armenpress, they demanded that the international community not remain silent and respond appropriately to the Turkish-Azerbaijani terrorist aggression in Artsakh.

The participants held photographs of Adolf Hitler and displayed banners featuring Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Ilham Aliyev, and Adolf Hitler, seemingly identifying them as synonymous with one another. They also held images of Armenian heroes who participated in the Great Patriotic War, as well as pictures of their ancestors.

One participant, Irina Safaryan, noted that they came to the Russian Embassy to tell the story of Armenians’ long history, during which Armenians and Russians achieved victories together. She emphasized that during the Great Patriotic War, numerous marshals and generals came from Armenia and Artsakh.

“We have given more heroes than many of the republics that were part of the USSR. Today we came to remind of all this and to harness our joint efforts to overcome the terrorism currently occurring in Artsakh,” said Safaryan, adding that Armenian soldiers are dying daily due to inaction and silence.

Another participant, Liana Adamsyan, called for applause for the soldiers standing on the front lines, who protect their homeland every minute. “We are holding a peaceful demonstration, and we possess the images of marshals, generals, and participants of the Great Patriotic War. The majority of Artsakh residents fought against global fascism and emerged victorious. We are here to say that we are the continuators of our fathers and grandfathers, and today we hope that the address of peace is the border of Artsakh. We forced peace upon fascist Hitler together, and today’s new fascists are Erdoğan and Aliyev. We must fight against international terrorism,” stated Adamsyan, also addressing a group of Russian allies.

The participants chanted slogans such as “We will win,” “Boys, we are with you,” “Glory and honor to our heroes,” “End Erdoğan,” “Stop the terrorism,” and “Victory.” Additionally, speeches were made by participants calling for Russia to stand alongside the people of Artsakh and the Armenian nation to defeat the modern-day Hitler (Erdoğan).

Due to pandemic-related circumstances, the women placed their demand letter into a mailbox, after which they will await a response. They brought a bouquet of flowers, which they laid near the Russian Embassy in memory of the victory achieved in the Great Patriotic War and the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples. Armenian women from Artsakh have previously held similar actions in front of the UN Office and various embassies in Armenia.
