The Body of Misha Melkumyan, Deceased in Azerbaijan, Transferred to Armenia via Georgia
The body of 84-year-old Misha Melkumyan, a civilian who was captured by the Azerbaijani armed forces, has been handed over to the Armenian side with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Zara Amatuni, the head of communication programs at the Armenian office of the Red Cross, mentioned this in a conversation with Armenpress.
"Thanks to the support of the Red Cross, the body of the elderly man has been transferred to Armenia via Georgian territory from Azerbaijan," Amatuni noted.
Earlier, Armenia's human rights defender Arman Tatoyan reported that Misha Melkumyan, the civilian captured by the Azerbaijani armed forces, had died on the night of October 29-30.
"Considering all the evidence and documentation regarding the inhumane treatment and brutality faced by Armenian captives at the hands of the Azerbaijani armed forces, it becomes evident to formulate a substantiated assumption of what might have caused the death of our compatriot," Tatoyan wrote.
Azerbaijan announced on October 29 that the Armenian side had refused to accept the civilian, 84-year-old Misha Melkumyan. However, the findings of the Armenian human rights defender confirmed that this claim does not correspond to reality.
