VIDEO: Azerbaijani Side Utilizes Phosphorus Weapons, New Footage
In the zone of the Azerbaijan-Artsakh conflict, hostile forces have utilized phosphorus weapons containing elements of chemical warfare. This act represents a gross violation of international humanitarian law, customary law norms and principles, the Geneva Conventions, as well as the relevant conventions and documents of the United Nations. Apart from aiming to inflict damage on Armenian forces, there is also an intent to provoke massive forest fires and create real environmental disaster risks in the area.
The prohibition of the aforementioned actions and the rights and values they protect primarily fall within the domain of customary law. Moreover, the use of such weapons, which do not allow for the clear differentiation between military and civilian objects, results in environmental disasters and potential human casualties, constituting war crimes,” stated the Artsakh Defense Army, also releasing a video.
