Henrikh Mkhitaryan Calls on International Community to Recognize Artsakh's Independence

Captain of the Armenian national football team and midfielder for Italian club AS Roma, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has called on the international community to recognize the independence of Artsakh and the right to self-determination of its people. Mkhitaryan made this statement in a post on his Facebook page.

“Against the backdrop of rising tensions in the conflict, as well as ongoing attacks against the peaceful Armenian population and the threat of their physical extermination, we urge the international community to recognize the independence of the Republic of Artsakh and the right to self-determination,” the statement reads.

Mkhitaryan accompanied his post with a photograph of himself, featuring the caption: “Do you recognize me, recognize Artsakh: I am Artsakh.”
