Armenia and Azerbaijan to Participate in CIS Military Chiefs Committee Meeting

The next meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS countries will take place today, Friday, in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), chaired by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army General Valery Gerasimov, TASS reports, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"The military delegations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as delegations from the CIS Executive Committee and the CIS Defense Ministers Committee Secretariat are expected to participate in the meeting," the statement said.

"The heads of military delegations from CIS member countries will discuss a range of cooperation issues that represent mutual interests in the field of defense and security, as well as exchange views on the geopolitical situation emerging along the borders of the CIS countries," the Russian Ministry of Defense added.
